KEDA in conjunction with the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce and the District of Kitimat are excited to be hosting Minerals North 2024. This event will be held on May 8th-10th, 2024
Minerals North is the non-profit Association that facilitates the hosting of the annual Minerals North Conference. This event is hosted by communities in northern BC and has the largest northern mining conferences in Western Canada. The warm hospitality that derives from community involvement ensures that Minerals North is distinct from any other mining conference in British Columbia.
A Marvel of Nature and Industry
Kitimat is a community of about 8,600 people located on the north coast of British Columbia. The community sits at the head of Douglas Channel next to Kitimat River. The community was developed in the 1950s to serve the aluminum industry. Over the years, forestry and methanol industries also existed in Kitimat. In October 2018 the energy sector arrived when the decision was made by LNG Canada to develop a $40B LNG export facility here. This project is the single largest private sector investment in Canada
